"It's me...Howwison!"

I'M HOWWISON!!!! And I know how to use a computer! My cousin Emmy has been blogging for months now, so between naps and feedings and jumperoo time, I figure I'll lend my creative genius to Dad's blog. No, it's not a competition between Emmy and I...it just looked like a fun challenge at this stage of my development. Like Emmy, I plan to only add extra-super-special content because that's the way I am.

This little movie makes me laugh. Mom thought I was being all cute rolling around so she got out the video camera. I decided to give her something extra special for her short documentary. You have to turn up your volume for the full effect.

Now that I've number two'd, I can finally move forward with my day.

Firewood chronicles cont. - the redneck fix

From all my cutting and chopping I had ended up with multiple piles of firewood at least a quarter mile back in the woods at Yellowwood. I had an old Craftsman yard cart that I somehow wrangled away from mom and dad years ago, but when I attempted to pull it behind the ATV it would sway and tip and dump my wood all over the trail. Then one of the cart's tires went flat.

I tried pulling it with 200 pounds of firewood with one tire and one bare rim but that just got ugly. So I got busy cutting through the rusted bolts holding the frame and axle to the plastic tub, and after burning up the old Dremel, I now have a tub that easily drags behind the man-machine and delivers my wood to the awaiting truck at the Yellowwood gate.

Jacuzzi back-float

The back-float experiment had him a little freaked out, but he quickly learned that bath time with Mommy can be a real hoot.

The Lonely Child

These pictures are cute and sad at the same time. H asked Danza for some personal space this afternoon so he could work on his jumperoo skills. After a while he decided he better check on his food source, and she was ready with the camera.

5 months = s'mores

Today Harrison turned 5 months old! So to celebrate our survival, as well as our success at keeping him alive, we put him to bed and made Nutella s'mores over the kitchen stove. Too bad he missed his party.

I was antlered yesterday

Yesterday I was out at Barbara's with Aaron walking the deer trails and looking for shed antlers. Much to my amazement, I actually found one.

No, it is not for sale for $5.00. The legal tender is merely a visual scale reference.

Diane stayed with us this weekend, and she needed an explanation for how I happened across an antler on the ground when it should be stuck to a deer's head. So here is a little information on antlers.

Antlers are often mistaken as horns. Horns (think bighorn sheep) are permanent and grow larger throughout the animal's lifetime. Antlers are grown each year and are shed each winter. The deer family are the only species in the world that grow antlers. In look and feel, antlers are very similar to bone. They grow from March until September (growth is triggered by the increase of sunlight in the spring), and deer shed them in January and February. Each year they typically grow bigger until a deer is 4 or 5 years old. Their purpose is mainly for fighting other male deer...the winner of the fight gets to breed with the girls.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Daycare seduction

Harrison has been getting fresh with one of the girls at daycare, and we think they might even be going steady. I've received two updates from the staff, and I was an eye witness to one incident.

The other day when I arrived to pick him up, I was told that he was using his seduction-eyes on Mya who was across the room in a jumperoo. The staff was trying to figure out what he was smiling and cooing at, and sure enough it was a cute gal, several months his elder, on the other side of the Snuggle Bunnies room. I don't know what Mya's parents think of this, but I am somewhat concerned. Apparently she was throwing the same mojo back at H.

Then, yesterday, I arrived to pick him up and he and Mya were having tummy-time together and they were holding hands. It looked like Harrison had made the move, as his hand was on top of hers.

Should I be nervous about this? Isn't he a bit young to be making such advancements on a 9 month old?

With the photo evidence shown below of Harrison's seductive powers, I can't say that I blame Mya.

Interestingly, this is very similar to the look I gave Danza the first night I met her.

"boop" - chuckle, chuckle, chuckle

A few laugh tracks from Harrison. We never seem to have the camera around when he really gets going, but these clips are still somewhat amusing.

By the third one, he is pretty much over it.

Super Bowl weekend - Harrison says "Go Broncos!"

Danza took the awesome shots of Harrison above.

Harrison was cheering for the Broncos in the Super Bowl last night (thanks for the outfit, Don & Anne!). We didn't have the heart to tell him that his team wouldn't be showing up.

I split wood at Yellowwood on Sunday afternoon. My back and shoulders are killing me. The atv is a lot of fun in the snow.

Harrison meets Spoon

Harrison asked for tater tots and a Yoo-Hoo and Danza came home from the store with rice cereal. I strongly believe that a human's first experience with 'real' food should not be a bowl of slightly warmed nondescript white mush. Perhaps ice cream, or chocolate pudding, or anything that actually tastes good and is easy on gums-lacking-teeth, but not white porridge that tastes like the spoon it is delivered on.

He had no problems clamping down on the spoon, but soon after he would eject the mush from his mouth like a geyser. Today I think I'll stop by the convenience store and get him some Junior Mints and a Faygo.
