Bipedal

Harrison always greets me from his mom's arms when I come home from work on the days that Danza gets to stay home with him. Yesterday's greeting was different. I walked in and Danza said "watch this." She stood Harrison up across the kitchen from me and said "walk to Daddy." AND HE WALKED!! TO ME!!!! IT WAS GLORIOUS!!!!

On November 11, 2009 at the ripe young age of 14 months and two days, Harrison Matthew Lloyd took his first steps!

Sure we're proud parents, but look how damn proud Harrison is!

He spreads cheer

So I admit...when I feel like a pick-me-up I tend to jump online and go to Critters and then Doozer.  Mainly because pictures of Harrison are quickly found, they tend to be our best pictures of Harrison, and he is typically throwing a big wide smile right in your face.  This makes me happy, he makes me happy.

Anyway, these two shots make me happy so I'm posting them so I can read my own blog tomorrow and smile.

A haircut?!? Who??!! Harrison??

I quickly looked through some pictures taken in the weeks before H got his first haircut.  I don't know how Danza and I didn't realize how shaggy and ridiculous his hair had gotten.  Maybe we did and we just ignored.  Kinda like my selective hearing I employ at home when Danza asks me to do something.  I see her mouth moving, but there are no words.  We would see Harrison, but we didn't see any hair. Anyway, here are some great pre-cut pictures.

Denver

We are back home from a very sad trip to Denver. After losing Danza's stepmom Anne in a car accident last week, Danza, Harrison and I traveled to Denver to be with family for the better part of the week. It was a very tough trip, but spending time with family will continue to help us all cope. We are very much looking forward to seeing Don again, hopefully at Thanksgiving in a few weeks as he has mentioned catching a flight to Indiana.

Here are some great pictures of Anne that I had in the archives. Below them are some shots from the trip to Denver.

And Anne with Harrison

Our flight to Denver was rather calm. Harrison behaved himself, got his own seat, ate Cheerios to pass the time, and didn't smack any of the other travelers.
As soon as we arrived, Elvira instructed us to consider a haircut. So off we went. I was hoping for an old-school barber shop where Harrison could listen to conversation about politics and the World Series. But we ended up at a mall and Danza steered him toward a "salon." Here he is pre-cut, with his bangs interfering with his vision.

It was Halloween, and lucky H had an angel complete with wings and cleavage begin work on his mop. He was very good during the process, except he kept turning around as he tried to figure out what she was doing.

And here is a short video of the angel at work.

We put the kids in the dump truck when we didn't feel like watching them. It was the biggest redneck playpen Harrison has seen. He loved it!

Surely someone can come up with a good caption for this picture.

Danza flew separately to and from Denver, so Harrison's Bubbe and I were in charge of the critter on both flights. Coming back was a struggle. He was tired, cranky, and would not go to sleep. After an exhausting two hours on the plane trying to keep him calm and quiet, he finally fell asleep in my arms after we touched down in Indy and were taxiing to the terminal.

In closing, it was very comforting to be with family in Denver during such a sad time. We think about Anne constantly and miss her tremendously.
